Ciel walks into his office where an expected but unwanted guest is waiting for him a smug smile upon his lips,

“Well, what does the Queen want?” he questions the man curtly not bothering with pleasantries.

“The Queen wants to know how your plan is progressing. She is quite eager to hear what you have found out about the (Last name) family’s business,” the man answers with a glare though keeping his voice even.

“I’m still investigating the matter; the (Last name) family is good at keeping things from others. In order to gain their trust and get closer to the family I have engaged myself to their only daughter,” Ciel informs him taking a seat at his office chair coldly looking at the queen’s servant before him.

“Do proceed quickly, Her Majesty wants this matter resolved soon,” the man states with finality getting up from his seat and exiting, “See you around Earl Phantomhive.”

Once the man walks out the door Sebastian comes into the room with some Earl Grey tea for his master, after placing a cup on the desk the butler takes his place beside Ciel’s chair.

“What did you find out?” Ciel inquires taking a sip of his favorite drink glancing at the demon.

“The family has nothing in their home or their factory in town my Lord but I followed Lady (Name)’s father to an abandoned looking hospital building,” Sebastian relays awaiting more orders from the young Lord.

“I order you to find out why he has any interest in the building and if he’s using it for what the queen says,” the Earl demands sighing at the end as he hopes this investigation turns up nothing.

You lie asleep in a guest room completely unaware that your Ciel is up to nor why the queen could possibly think your family is involved in something sinister. In the morning you are woken up by the bespectacled maid who has a lovely blue dress prepared for you to wear seeing as you were not expecting to have to stay over. Once dressed Mey-rin brings you to the dining room where the table is already set with delicious looking food. Everything looks so appetizing you want to try it all, at the head of the table Ciel sits raising his eyes to meet yours from the papers he was reading,

“Good morning, I hope you slept well (Name),” the young master smiles at you.

“Good morning, I slept wonderfully, thank you for allowing me to stay,” you reply grinning at him as you take a seat to the right of him.

“Don’t thank me, it is my job to keep you safe as your fiancé,” Ciel says seriously starting to eat his food and going back to reading the papers before him.

“I still appreciate it, what are you reading?” you question deciding to change topic since the Earl seems distracted.

Taking a breath the man is about to speak when Sebastian interrupts,

“Please do forgive my Lord, he is not used to having company for his meals and brought work from the office,” the butler comments picking up the documents.

“Don’t interrupt me again Sebastian,” Ciel warns none-too-pleased at his interference then he looks back at you, “I’m working on a case for the queen, and she seems to think that a noble family is using their company to harm others.”

“That’s awful! I’m sure you will put a stop to it Ciel. Actually, would you mind if I helped? I have always wanted to investigate a crime,” you plead with him knowing that his cases are always interesting.

“The next case maybe but I will not allow you on this one,” he states matter-of-factly face void of emotion.

“Must be a really bad case then,” you say pretending to dismiss it yet secretly plan on going to his study some other time to see what you can find out about the case.

Ciel seemed satisfied with your response considering he very much disliked being nagged and if you had pleaded with him he most likely would have given in as the gentlemanly thing to do. He completely missed the sly grin upon your features, later he might regret that he wasn’t more observant. His butler on the other hand saw this outward display of mischief and disobedience and he smiled to himself knowing that you’re going to make things interesting for his master. The two of you finish breakfast together before you decide that you should head home so your family doesn’t worry too much. Ciel only let you go after Sebastian had checked for unwanted guests hiding in the woods although because he had work to do he did not accompany you on the carriage ride to your house. In the meantime while you are gone he’s going to do more research into your family’s history especially since anything bad about their company will reflect on Funtom for working with them. Although Ciel does like you, you are merely a pawn in his chess game at the moment. He cannot let feelings get in the way of completely a case that’s how it has always been after he came back to life with the aid of his demon servant.

When you arrive home you are greeted joyously by your parents as they announce that they have just bought a building to refurbish into another factory to expand their company. Happy that the business is expanding more you ask if you can help out with the new building at all, you would like to learn now rather than later when you have to take over the company. Your mother gives you an uneasy look but your father immediately agrees saying that he’ll walk you through everything to help you figure it all out. Questioning your mother’s apprehension she tells you that she just isn’t sure you’re ready for that kind of responsibility. Your father laughs claiming that she worries too much which encourages you to look forward to what is in store for you. Having nothing better to do you inquire about going to see the building where this new factory is supposed to be built. Both parents agree to take you there the next day considering they have business meetings to attend today. In the meantime your mother wants you take notes during these discussions to get a better sense of business. You have no complaints about it yet you can’t help but feel as though you’re being watched by someone or something. The feeling is shaken away as unnecessary paranoia from the troublesome incident last night at the Phantomhive estate when those thugs showed up even though you never got to see them. Through each meeting you pay close attention not just to what is being said but the body language of each person. One man tries to give your parents an unfair deal for a contract concerning distribution of product,

“Excuse me sir but you’re lying to my parents, I read in the paper your company travels all over England, not just this city. Also you don’t need to charge extra to ensure you business stays open, you have the richest delivery service as of last week. Please do refrain from trying to make such an unfair deal,” you interject before your parents can respond to the man then go back to your note taking.

“Who is this young lady? Her tongue should be curbed for daring to say such outrageous things!” the man raises his voice in anger sending a glare your way.

“That is our daughter sir, do not speak about her in such a way,” your father responds to the rude man crossing his arms with a disapproving frown on his face.

“You can forget about us doing business with you, good day,” your mother adds on sending you a smile.

You smile back chiming in, “I can ask Earl Phantomhive about possible distributers for us to use.”

“Wait a second, I-I’ll give you a fair deal, there’s no need to look for someone else! Just don’t tell the Earl about this!” the man suddenly exclaims eyes widened in a slight panic trying to regain control of the situation.

“We will think about it, please leave our home and we will get back to you if we decide to forgive you,” your mother tells him with a glare.

The man nods knowing that there’s nothing he could say to make any of this better now and takes his leave. He also curses his luck that your family knows the queen’s watchdog which could be very bad for business if the Phantomhive denounces his company. Your parents look at you curiously,

“Where did you get that information (Name)? We hadn’t read about that in the paper,” your mother wants to know leaning forward in her seat across the table from you.

“I read it off one of the papers at Ciel’s estate,” you inform her honestly but wonder how he had information that wasn’t public.

“Well, I’m glad that you were paying attention you’ll do well as a business woman even though you’re marrying that Phantomhive,” your father comments patting you on the shoulder.

“You agreed to let him have my hand, he’ll appreciate that I can do business,” you shoot back flippantly knowing that Ciel doesn’t like to socialize much.

Accepting he can’t say anything back to you he just smiles walking out of the room with your mother shaking his head. You decide to take a walk around town now that the meetings are done and you don’t have any plans with Ciel for the evening.

Considering the two of you have yet to set a date for the wedding you conclude that planning now will make things less stressful later and give you more time to get Ciel’s approval on colors, cards, arrangements, and all the other things that go into a wedding. The first thing you want to look at is the flowers for the occasion so you head there watching the people swarming the walkways and carriages running through the streets. There are some little thieves running around bumping into people “on accident” then apologizing to the person before taking off with their money grinning. If you didn’t think they needed the money you would have warned the ignorant folk but you stay quiet as those people should know already about the children’s tricks. As you walk by a particularly dark alley you get the feeling of being watched once more and glance into the shadows only to see nothing there then proceed past the Undertaker’s place of business. Feeling wary you pick up the pace a bit then a startlingly loud laugh makes you jump causing you to look in the direction seeing a man dressed in black with very long grey hair clutching his stomach as he tries to calm himself down.

“Are you all right sir?” you tentatively ask walking towards him in concern.

“All right? (weird chuckling) I should ask if you’re all right!” the man you now recognize as Undertaker (how could you ever forget?) exclaims grinning from ear to ear then eating a…dog biscuit?

“Um…yes, I’m perfectly well,” you pause slowing your speech at the strange statement no longer feeling the eyes of someone on you, “Can I help you with anything?”

“You already have! Can you do it again? I want it again,” the man starts to drool at the thought slowly creeping up on you.

“I don’t even know what I did,” you speak up completely confused by the eccentric man now.

“Not here, come in the shop,” he tells you before pulling you into the building without waiting for your consent.

“I guess it wouldn’t hurt but what is it you want?” confusion sounds clear in your voice and you quite possibly also a little freaked out that a strange man is taking you into a shop full of coffins and dead bodies.

“I want a first-rate laugh! There’s nothing else I desire more,” Undertaker explains turning his smiling face towards you once more.

You stare at him blankly wondering if this is some sort of prank he wants to pull to fill his most likely boring day. Just imagining spending all day around this much death with the same routine over and over could get boring and depressing, no wonder the man wants a laugh. Agreeing to make him laugh you ascertain the knowledge of his favorite type of jokes to make it a little easier on yourself. Just as you are about to tell him a joke that will surely make him happy a familiar voice stops you,

“Undertaker, I need some information from you,” Ciel demands walking into the place followed by Sebastian along with two other people you are not known to you.

“Be patient young lord, this pretty lady was about to give me a first-rate laugh!” Undertaker frowns at him and if his eyes were visible there would probably have been a glare.

A look of shock crosses Ciel’s face for a few seconds when his eye catches sight of you, mouth dropping he seems at a loss of what to say this minute. At this Undertaker bursts out in laughter shaking the whole establishment. When he finally recovers he grabs your hands thanking you profusely much to your confusion seeing as you did nothing.

“I like you, what’s your name?” Undertaker questions kindly ignoring the earl.

“Her name is (Name) (Last name) and she’s my fiancée. Now get away from her,” Ciel answers before you can get a word in taking your arm to enlarge the distance between you and the shopkeeper.

“I can answer for myself you know,” you mutter to the man beside you rolling your eyes and crossing your arms.

“Oh? Was that jealousy my lord?” Undertaker teases the irritated Phantomhive coming closer.

“I’m not a child anymore,” Ciel smirks back then looks over to you, “What are you doing here anyway?”

“Nothing, he wanted me to tell him a joke,” you reply not sure why it even really matters, “Although now I think I’ll stay to hear about your case.”

Here's part 3 of the series, sorry I haven't posted in a while and I hope you enjoy these new events.
