Literature Text

The number of guards on you increased as time went on but not due to your failed escape attempts, those you just barely hid from everyone, you are not very good at lying. Odd though that may be considering your past but you have always felt honesty was best until now. Gerald become one of your guards jumping at the opportunity when your uncle Victor said he was worried for your safety, however, Gerald is also still your combat trainer. Victor was happy to let the man do both jobs since he is one of the most trusted members and Victor is hoping that maybe you will develop feelings for the young man. If that were to happen, you would not ever want to leave and would have no problem taking over the family business. Also he would be able to send word to those circus members that you never want to come back so they will stop looking for you. He has had a team watching them since you were brought home, he probably would have left you with them if he could have children. Although now Victor contemplates using these circus people after hearing about how dangerous they are which is why he hasn’t told them anything yet. He risks your friends taking you away if he brings them into the fold right now. No doubt they could trick him as acting is something they are used to doing for a living and he was not going to let that happen.

Victor stands up from his chair in his large business office with wooden boarders on the walls donning Victorian design and marble floor leaving the nice looking place followed by his guards who were chatting about recent events in the (Last name) manor. Their group goes down the hallways to where Gerald is currently training you for the morning as he does every day. Your uncle motions for his guards to wait outside as he walks in the room just in time to see you block one of Gerald’s kicks catching the ankle using it to pull him forward into your knee. Victor claps praising you and announcing his presence at the same time to which Gerald rubs the back of his head in embarrassment and you simply stared.

“Good morning Victor, what brought you here?” Gerald questions smiling at the man.

“Good morning, I’m here for my niece. (Name) let’s go tour the town, surely you would like to leave this mansion for a while and it will help me decide what to get you for the upcoming holiday,” Victor says planning on using this outing as a test to see how much you desire to escape back to that excuse of a living you had before.

“I’d love to go out but you really don’t have to get me anything,” you tell him smiling at the fact that you can possibly escape today.

Victor smiled at you knowing from the look on your face that you plan on an escape attempt, you really are bad at masking your emotions when you’re excited.

It wasn’t long after that the two of you had set out that you noticed the wagon was going to the town where your uncle first gave you the ultimatum of going with him or watching your friends die. A humorless smile appeared on your features as you ask,

“Why are we going back Uncle?”

“Your friends have moved on and I quite like that town,” he responds calmly hard as ever to read.

“I would not be surprised if you had them killed despite what you told me,” you mutter to yourself casting your gaze down at your lap to study the pattern on your dress.

“Come again?” Victor asks not hearing a word of what you said now leaning forward and giving you his full attention.

“Just commenting about how beautiful this dress is,” you half lie since the dress is magnificent but if your uncle had heard you he might have gotten angry which you have learned to avoid.

The anger of your uncle is a dangerous thing, he gets very violent though it has not happened to you, you have witnessed others be subjected to his wrath. It is quite unfortunate but truly there is nothing you could have done to help any of those people for guards are always around and force you away. This act in itself is strange due to the fact that Victor expects you to rule with an iron fist like he does yet he keeps as much of the dark parts of the job hidden from you. Even with that in mind you try to keep yourself contained in order to be polite to the last member of your blood relatives as you wish nothing more than to make him vanish in order to return to the life you once had. That’s when an idea struck you, if you get rid of Victor then no one would be able to keep you from going home. Granted this is not something you want to resort to but this is not the life you want to live and you’ll be damned if someone is going to make you. Victor sends you a curious glance when a faint smile curls your lips and a somehow unsettling glint reflects in your eyes. Now it is only a matter of time. This should be a very interesting shopping trip.

Sorry for the long wait on the next part, I'll try to post once a week. Hope you like this part, things are about to get interesting.
